about
I don’t spend a lot time writing my songs and I won’t spend a lot of time writing this either. I frankly don’t have much of an attention span to do anything other then just get down into it.
The music that inspires me to want to play music is Stax/Volt, British Invasion, garage rock and blues, all stuff you get down into.
But what inspires me to write write songs is 60s + 70s cinema, American literature, vinyl records, art of all nature and Naugahyde jackets, with the jackets most able to hold my attention the longest. So I only spend as much time writing a song as it takes to write it, which is hopefully not much longer than it takes to get down in it. I’ve got jackets try on.
I assembled Country Western Soul Review in late 2017 with namesake members Chris Walsh on guitar and Steve Rice on keyboards to record an album worth of songs I amassed over the previous two years while performing in my old band Forty Rod. We spent the next year recording a full-length record named In Sight of You at Dave Klein Recording in Los Angeles, with my old writing & performing partner Mike Gomez eventually joining the band and playing guitar on the entire album. Last joiners Billy Blaze on drums and Tim Foley on bass came in for the final 3rd of the recording and now round out the team.
In Sight of You features guest performances by John Poddy of Gross Polluter, Long Beach Huntington of Full Tilt Trio, Suzanne La Roque of the Orchestra Collective of Orange County and The OC Horns.
Each & every one of us are fully committed to original rock, blues, and R&B, delivered dead-on with real deal funk & soul. Comes get a piece, we’re here to bring it.
